Accessing the NRF Facilities
The Nanoscale Research Facility is now home to the combined resources of Microfabritech and the Nanofabrication Facility. The facilities will be open to all faculty, students, and collaborators working in the areas of nanoscale science and technology.
The NRF will have a variety of equipment for nanofabrication of devices and sensors, bio-processing, advanced imaging with atomic resolution, organic and inorganic materials synthesis and characterization, and general laboratory and office space to support interdisciplinary collaborations and users. Much of this equipment will be too expensive or complex to be purchased and supported on individual investigator grants; and is difficult to use and maintain. A highly-trained technical staff will operate, maintain, and improve NRF equipment and facilities; and train users and students in the use of the facilities. Fees will be charged for use of some equipment.
In order to access and use NRF equipment and facilities one must be a registered user. To ensure the safety of users and the integrity of the equipment some formal training and instruction in the use of the equipment is required. The portion of the web site provides details on:
- The facilities and equipment available for use
- How to register as a user and receive the required training
- How to reserve time on the available equipment
- How to view the status of equipment and receive pertinent news concerning equipment status.
