Nanostructured Complex Oxides

For complex oxide materials, the ability to investigate and manipulate structure and defects in thin films at the nano- to micro-scale presents one of the fundamental challenges in materials research. Within the group of David Norton, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, atomic scale control of oxide film growth is being used to tailor and manipulate the properties of complex oxide materials.

Oxide Nanowire Materials and Devices

The synthesis, properties, and application of semiconducting nanowires have attracted significant attention in recent years. Potential applications for these structures include electron field emitters, bio/chemical nanosensors, field effect transistors, single electron transistors, and nano-light emitting diodes. Research activities at the University of Florida are investigating oxide nanowire fabrication and devices.
