Advanced Imaging Areas
The advanced imaging suites and lab area shown in red on the first floor is supported on a thickened concrete slab on engineered fill that is isolated from the building foundation, walls, and support columns for the second floor. The four advanced imaging suites next to the cleanroom have special floor, wall, door and ceiling construction, and separate air handling units; and a separate chase area for locating support equipment to reduce noise and control heat loads. This design achieves low vibrations (VC-E or NIST-A criteria) and acoustics. This area also is designed and located for low electromagnetic interference (EMI) of < 0.2 milliGauss. These conditions meet or exceed the operational requirements of most all commercially available imaging and surface analysis equipment. There are also labs in the adjacent areas for advanced optical and surface analysis.
